COMMUNITY
CULTURAL ORGANIZATIONS JOIN TOGETHER TO PRESENT THIRD ANNUAL
ANN
ARBOR FAMILY DAYS
ANN ARBOR (December 5,
2005) — In what has become a vibrant family tradition for the Ann Arbor
community, eleven area cultural organizations are collaborating to present free
and low-cost family friendly cultural events for the third annual Ann Arbor Family Days (AAFD) on Saturday and Sunday, January
14 and 15, 2006 in several venues throughout Ann Arbor. For more information
on events and tickets, please visit www.annarbor.org/familydays
Ann Arbor Family Days
provides an opportunity for community members and their families to experience a
broad range of cultural events in a family-friendly environment. Activities
include museum tours, discovery projects, hands-on activities, storytelling, and
live music and dance performances, including opportunities for children’s
participation—all concentrated near the downtown/U-M campus area. Throughout
the weekend, AAFD provides a spectrum of activities for children in many
different age groups. Parents and children have the opportunity to decide which
events they will attend. Each event is marked with an age-appropriate rating to
ensure that families attend events both they and their children will enjoy. Many
AAFD events are free, and all are open to the public.
Participating
organizations include the Ann Arbor Art Center, Ann Arbor District Library, Ann
Arbor Hands-On Museum, Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra, Dance Gallery Studio,
Kelsey Museum of Archaeology, Swing City Dance Studio, University of Michigan
Exhibit Museum of Natural History, University of Michigan Museum of Art,
University Musical Society, and Wild Swan Theater.
Ann Arbor Family Days is
presented with support from media sponsor the Ann Arbor Observer and promotional partner, the Ann
Arbor Area Convention and Visitors Bureau.

Owl’s Winter presented
by Wild Swan Theater
Wild Swan Theater, Ann
Arbor's highly acclaimed theater for family audiences, presents a special
production for young children. Owl's
Winter is a delightful collection of stories based on Arnold Lobel's Owl
at Home, carefully created to engage the littlest theater-goers. In one
story Owl encounters strange bumps at the end of his bed as he lies down to
sleep. In another, the moon seems to follow him home while he is out for an
evening stroll. In a third, Owl makes tearwater tea when he runs out of the real
thing. The warmth and humor of these stories will delight preschool or early
elementary school-aged children. Children will help Owl make discoveries through
lots of audience participation and a special surprise at the end.
