During our year-long partnership with The Epicurean Traveler (a fabulous blog from Erin Klema, a Grand Rapids-based foodie), we've done our best to show her the most exciting, quirky, wonderful, unique, and impressive things happening in the Ann Arbor area. With this quest in mind, we knew that she absolutely had to spend a whole day exploring Ypsilanti.
Ypsi is artistic, independent, unfiltered and real. A community of passionate educators, artists and manufacturers, social justice warriors and culinary geniuses, community organizers and trailblazing fashionistas, and long-time Ypsilantians and also tons of new residents - Ypsilanti is a melting pot of diverse ideas and backgrounds. Perhaps this is why there's such a strong sense of community in the city - a feeling that was apparent to Erin as she explored Ypsi late last year.
We showed Erin around tons of our favorite spots, from coffeeshops to shopping destinations and everywhere in between. She loved the Raspberry Ale at Cultivate, the handmade jewelry at Brick & Mortar, the lamb meatballs at Ollie, and the OG sandwich at Ma Lou's - among lots of others!
"When visiting Ann Arbor for a weekend getaway, I highly recommend you carve out a little time to explore the college town to the east. In Ypsilanti, you’ll discover a destination a bit more off the beaten path, local businesses that are giving back to and supporting their community, and some darn good, delicious eats and drinks, my friends." - The Epicurean Traveler
Ypsilanti offers boutique and vintage shopping as well as delicious food and craft beverages. Read Erin's blog for suggestions of where to spend your day in Ypsilanti, Michigan. Read Erin's full post HERE.
