When the air is cool and crisp and the only way you can imagine stepping outside for even a single moment is to walk briskly from your warm car to a warm building, make that warm building a local Ypsilanti taproom. Our community has a wealth of area spots that brew their own beer in every style – we've even got a kombucha brewery of our very own! Read on and find your new wintertime hang.
Cultivate is Ypsi’s home for community and collaboration. On any given night you’ll find meetups galore – knitting groups, film lovers, language learners, book clubs, you name it. Cultivate stands out with their focus on frequent collaboration with Michigan breweries to create uniquely local craft beer, like their Barrel-Aged Cascara Sour collaboration with Speciation Artisan Ales and the Barrel-Aged Holiday Blend Imperial Stout, a joint venture with Odd Side Ales. Sit inside or outside in the heated tent with a custom flight or an innovative beer cocktail and soak up that community feel.
For a quirky, unpretentious hang, have a seat at 734 Brewing Company. B.Y.O.F(ood) from your favorite local spot and enjoy a Cross Street Cream or an Oatmeal Stout. A highlight is their newly launched series of beers named after local celebrities – the first is the Something About the Name Sasha, a raspberry stout named after Sasha Womble, host of local beer podcast Brewz Brothaz. They also brew housemade root beer and Apple Wine. At 734, you’ll get that true #ypsireal feel.
Located in the Centennial Center Building, formerly the historic Huron Hotel, Ypsi Alehouse is the dream of local craft and microbrewing pioneer Ted Badgerow.
