visit website right arrow Email right arrow

A2SF welcomes back Ann Arborite Ingrid Racine, a trumpeter, composer, and improviser steeped in the traditions of early jazz and Detroit bebop with global influences to expand her sound. At the University of Michigan, she studied improvisation with luminaries like Donald Walden, Ellen Rowe, Ingrid Jensen, and Geri Allen. She furthered her education performing in ensembles led by Wendell Harrison, Marion Hayden, and James Dapogny. Racine has worked with an eclectic array of ensembles, including the early jazz group Phil Ogilvie’s Rhythm Kings, Mady Kouyate’s Heat of Africa, the Detroit-based all-female jazz group Straight Ahead, and the post-Afrobeat group NOMO.
