The African American Downtown Festival was founded by Lucille Hall Porter, who was also the founder and director of the Community Leaning Post, a nonprofit organization that helped disadvantaged youth and families. 

Expect live band performances; jazz, pop and dance music. Mascot characters will also be present to keep spirits high. Vendors sell lemonade, BBQ, jewelry, handmade arts, clothing, books and various beauty products.
