Back when Henry Ford started turning out the Model T, Migrant workers from Italy began flooding the Detroit Area in search of work and opportunity. The American Dream!

Workers stations were common equipped with 10x14" steel pans used to house their tools and the items needed to complete their specific job on the assembly line or in the steel plants.

Hungry for a taste of home, some of the workers began preparing their own ingredients at home and bringing them to work to use during lunch.

They would keep a couple well used steel pans and coat them in lard, laying out all the ingredients in the pan before placing them near the steel ovens to cook.

The result? Detroit Style Pizza was born with its crispy edges, soft dough, and deliciously filling toppings. The rest, is history!!
