Growing Hope, a nonprofit organization, helps people improve their lives and communities through gardening and increasing access to healthy food. You'll find them working to educate, inspire, and empower the community — in schools, at their urban farm, at their farmer's markets, in their downtown Ypsilanti retail shop, and around southeast Michigan. Through all of what they do, they work to Grow Healthy People, Grow Healthy Places, and Grow Healthy Economies. Activities include providing start-up and ongoing gardening assistance, developing and coordinating programs, teaching classes and workshops, developing curricula and training materials, and facilitating partnerships and collaboration.
Growing Hope grows vegetables, fruits, herbs, and flowers on a 1.4-acre property blocks from downtown Ypsilanti with a commitment to growing positive and healthy futures in Southeast Michigan communities. With mostly volunteer labor and lots of community support, they moved into the Growing Hope Center & Urban Garden in March 2012! Programs like their year-round demonstration and training site for urban farming, sustainable gardening, and green building continue to develop.
