Job Title: Lead Camp Counselor
Reports to: Operations Manager and Executive Director
Employment Status: Temporary full time
8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Monday – Friday
Compensation: $20/hour
Riverside is offering summer camp for children ages 6-13, June – August, 2024. There are six, one week long sessions. Kids will have the opportunity to participate in theater, dance, and art classes.
Duties:
- Responsible for recording camp attendance
- Help design projects and weekly schedules.
- Meet weekly with RAC Staff about successes and challenges.
- Supervise other three counselors and delegate tasks.
- Communicate with parents and guardians regarding their child.
- Check in with counselors and assist where needed to help camp run smoothly.
- Lead counselors in set-up for the next day.
- Help maintain daily classroom routines including: food prep, clean up, schedules, cleaning toys.
- Communicate, maintain & model independent behaviors & offer guidance.
- Model positive adult-child & adult-adult interactions & foster atmosphere of respect.
- Comfortable working with children ages 6-13
- Must commit to the full camp schedule – all six weeks plus a week of training (Time off requests will not be approved barring an emergency.)
Requirements/Certifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- A minimum of two years experience working with children and families.
- Physical exam including TB test
- CPR/First Aid strongly preferred.
- Vaccinated and boosted for COVID-19
- Experience managing volunteers or staff
- Must commit to the full camp schedule – all six weeks plus a week of training.
- Pass standard background check.

Duties:
- Reports to Lead Counselor.
- Lead group of 10-12 campers in various arts and crafts activities
- Help supervise during pick up and drop off as well as lunchtime.
- Prep items for activities.
- Help maintain daily classroom routines including: food prep, clean up, schedules, cleaning toys.
- Communicate, maintain & model independent behaviors & offer guidance.
- Model positive adult-child & adult-adult interactions & foster atmosphere of respect.
- Comfortable working with children ages 6-13
- Must commit to the full camp schedule – all six weeks plus a week of training (Time off requests will not be approved barring an emergency.)

- Ability to stand for long periods of time
- Able to lift 25 lbs regularly
- High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.

Counselor training June 17th-23rd
Camp begins June 24th
No camp the week of July 3rd-7th
Camp resumes July 8th- August 9th
