Ann Arbor Sports Commission-Hockey

Goal achieved!

History Of Success

The Ann Arbor Sports Commission was formed to attract amateur sporting events to Washtenaw County for economic impact, positive national exposure, and quality of life enhancement for its residents. The commission acts as a conduit on behalf of the region in the bid efforts for all ticketed and participant-driven sporting events. We host both competitive and recreational events, so all members of our community can enjoy both the great athletics, and facilities Washtenaw County has to offer. We have a well-established history of NCAA joint partnerships in bid development for a variety of indoor and outdoor sports as well as partner with club sports in bidding events such as Club Hockey Championships, national figure skating and lacrosse to name a few.

The Sports Commission values its partnership with the all the local universities.  Thanks to the county’s world-class sports facilities, there is a rich history of hosting major sporting events including the following:

  • Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) Junior Olympic Games
  • Field Hockey Events
  • AAU Junior Olympic Games Swimming Events
  • NHL Winter Classic
  • International Champions Cup (ICC) Soccer Matches
  • NCAA Tournaments, Regionals and Championships
