Tapping of the Golden Keg
Be there for the official Oktoberfest kickoff! Attendees dressed in their German best escort the Golden Keg into the event, ringing the famous bell and inviting folks to share a brew.
Stein Holding Contest
Show off your strength with this traditional Bavarian contest! Hold a 1-liter beer stein at arm's length for as long as possible. Do you have what it takes to be the champion?
Live Music
Bring your dancing shoes! Enjoy live music both Friday and Saturday with lively bands like Your Generation, Downriver Dan, and authentic German music on Saturday by Immigrant Sons.
Kinderplatz
Expect free kids' activities, live music, and shop select vendors on from 10 AM - 2 PM on North Ann Arbor Street. All are welcome.
Wiener Dog Races
Cheer on your favorite pup as they pitter-patter their way to gold medal glory. This Oktoberfest tradition is a fan favorite! It is recommended to leave pets at home after 7 PM due to loud noise and safety.
Hammerspiel Tournament
Looking to show off your muscles while having fun? Enter the Hammerspiel tournament! Swing a blacksmith’s hammer and claim victory in this 1800s game. Registration starts at 5 PM.
Biergarten
Opening at 5 PM daily, head to the Biergarten for authentic German beer, food, and polka music. Guests can purchase limited-edition commemorative steins during the event.
