The University of Michigan is home to a variety of beautiful venue options for wedding celebrations. Whether you want a small, intimate garden ceremony, or to exchange vows on the block M at center field at the Big House, U-M venues can provide the ideal setting for your day, whatever your vision may be. Read on for some of our top choices!

University of Michigan Museum of Art

UMMA is the perfect location for a masterpiece wedding. Host a grand affair for up to 500 in the marble-floored Lizzie and Jonathan Tisch Apse. Be wed under a soaring 40-foot skylight, surrounded by art and inspiration. Smaller events will be just as grand in the modern, sophisticated Maxine and Stuart Frankel and the Frankel Family Wing. As a special add-on, you can request that the galleries of the museum remain open for your guests to enjoy the art after hours.

Matthaei Botanical Gardens

Matthaei Botanical Gardens offers a variety of different spaces for those looking for a wedding ceremony decorated by nature herself. Say your vows amongst the lush, tropical plants inside the glass-roofed Conservatory, or choose one of the many spectacular outdoor settings like the elegant and fragrant Tudor-style Herb Knot Garden bordered in lavender, the traditional English-feeling Perennial Garden of yew hedges and rows of colorful flowers, or the Gateway Garden with a focal pavilion and summertime blooms, inviting to pollinators and guests alike. Receptions may be held indoors in the auditorium.

Michigan Stadium

The most die-hard fans of the Wolverines can now host their wedding ceremony on the 50-yard line of the Big House. Whether you have 107,601 guests or a smaller party, a wedding on the field at Michigan Stadium is an inspired choice for the couple that bleeds maize and blue. The stadium facilities also offer multiple indoor reception locations so you can keep the party going!

Michigan Union

Newly renovated in 2019, the iconic Michigan Union maintains its traditional U-M feel with updated elements. The highlight of the renovation is the newly enclosed courtyard beneath a striking glass atrium. The Union has a variety of spaces available for ceremonies and receptions of all sizes. Set your cocktail hour in the historic Pendleton room, with warming wood walls and a stunning stonework fireplace. The splendid Rogel Ballroom is a spacious banquet hall with soaring ceilings, opulent chandeliers, impressive windows, and luxurious finishes perfect for a grand and memorable wedding reception.

Michigan League

For the traditional romantics, the Michigan League is a stunning choice of setting. Located on Central Campus, the League offers intimate cocktail rooms, grand ballrooms, and a beautifully manicured courtyard perfect for an intimate ceremony among the neatly kept garden plants and wise old trees. The Vandenberg Room is full of historic details, with golden chandeliers and a warming fireplace. The Main Ballroom is a majestic setting for a large, traditional wedding, with elegant vaulted ceilings and tons of natural light.

Bonus tip: For a timeless wedding photo feel, and a classic U-M backdrop, head over to the Law Quad and pose by the magnificent Tudor Gothic-style buildings.
