Here's what she had to say about their Ann Arbor family visit:
Q: What surprised you most about Ann Arbor during your visit?
A: First, how family-centric it felt. I was expecting city and college town vibes, neither of which tend to be very welcoming to families. I could tell by our itinerary and our research that we were going to have fun, but I wasn’t anticipating how inviting the experience would be for my kids. Even in the more upscale restaurants we never felt out of place.
Second, how thoroughly accessible it was. I loved being greeted by Wheel the World signs – setting my mind at ease before we even entered. We didn’t encounter a single barrier to our fun on the entire trip. That almost never happens.
Q: How did Ann Arbor’s culture, food, or community stand out compared to other places you’ve visited?
A: Overall we felt welcomed. Spaces were designed to be accessible and staff were warm and welcoming. Everywhere we went it felt a bit like someone was rolling out the red carpet, even if no one even knew who we were.
