University of Michigan's Ferry Field is a multi-purpose sports facility. It opened in 1906 and was the Michigan football venue prior to the Michigan Stadium opening in 1927. Currently, the complex on S. State Street serves as the home for track and field, cross country, lacrosse and women's rowing. It includes an indoor and outdoor track competition venue for 2,000 and 500 spectators, respectively. Ferry Field is also a premium tailgating site for thousands of U-M football fans.
