Itinerary Ideas: For Families

Day 1

Plan a memorable getaway to the Ann Arbor area for the entire family with the help of this weekend itinerary!

Not Just a Children's Museum

Start the morning (or noon on Sundays) by visiting the Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum for family fun, where you’ll never have to say to your kids “Don’t touch!”

Lunch Like a Local

Grab lunch at a locally owned spot like Blimpy Burger or the Fleetwood, where you’re certain to find something for everyone.

Imagination Exploration

Family members of all ages will have fun finding the tiny fairy doors hidden throughout downtown Ann Arbor.

Dinner with Zing

When you’ve worked up an appetite, head over to award-winning Zingerman’s Roadhouse, which offers a huge kids’ menu (parents will like the side order options of fruit and veggies). Don’t miss the epic Mac ’n Cheese!

Sweet Dreams

In the Ann Arbor area, you’ll find accommodations with all kinds of amenities, for all types of budgets. Make a splash with the kids and book a hotel with an indoor pool. Many hotels offer discounts or freebies for kids. View our area hotels.

Day 2

You’ll Flip over These Pancakes!

Start the day with breakfast at the Northside Grill. Kids can choose from anything on the menu but parents can request smaller portions! So go ahead and order a slice of Cinnamon Swirl French Toast or even a single scrambled (cage-free Michigan) egg with cheese while you indulge at what locals consider the best brunch spot in the area.

Climb to the Top

After breakfast, take the kids to Planet Rock to work on agility, balance and coordination. This indoor climbing gym has a separate area just for youth. Classes are available for first-time climbers.

Jump in ‘Mudpuddles’

We’re talking about Mudpuddles, the toy store located in Kerrytown Market and Shops. The kids will love the stuffed animals, toys, books and more.

You Scream, I Scream…

Whatever the season, be sure to stop by Washtenaw Dairy for an ice cream cone, shake or malt. Choose from dozens of flavors, like Michigan Black Bear and Mackinaw Island Fudge. And take a dozen doughnuts to go — they are the only zero-trans-fat doughnuts made in Washtenaw County.
