Chapala Mexican Restaurant
The north end of Ann Arbor’s Main Street is home to Chapala, a vibrant spot serving Mexican cuisine with heart and soul. This Ann Arbor Restaurant Week, Chefs Victor and Chuy have curated a special menu you simply can’t miss.
We were fortunate to get a behind-the-scenes look at Chapala’s Chef’s Highlight Menu, a mouthwatering dining experience priced at $29.99 per person (dine-in only).
The Feast Begins
Kick off your meal with the Dip Duo—a pairing of fresh guacamole and Queso Fundido, a rich, housemade queso blanco mixed with flavorful chorizo, served with crispy tortilla chips
Pro tip: Pair this with their refreshing Coconut Pineapple Margarita for a tropical twist, or maybe a Modelo (not included in the $29.99).
The Star of the Show
The highlight of the meal is the legendary Quesabirrias. This crowd-pleaser features tender, slow-cooked beef birria, lovingly prepared with chile guajillos, chile ancho, and a blend of aromatic spices—just like Grandma used to make.
Served in warm corn tortillas with melted cheese and topped with fresh cilantro and onion, it’s accompanied by a rich, flavorful consomé for dipping. It’s a dish that will have you returning to Chapala.
A Sweet Finale
Just when you think you’ve had your fill, the finale arrives: Tres Leches Cake. This luscious, scratch-made cake is soaked in a trio of milks—evaporated, condensed, and whole—then topped with a light, creamy frosting. It’s the perfect way to end an unforgettable meal.
