Legendary former University of Michigan athletes Devin Gardner and Daniel Horton spent years making highlights throughout their years as Wolverines.  

Gardner, U-M’s former dual-threat quarterback, was a fixture at the Big House for his electric play on the field. And Horton dominated the hardwood, finishing his college basketball career as one of Michigan's all-time scoring leaders.  

During this episode of My Ann Arbor, these two supreme athletes, alongside Sam Webb, host of the hit podcast Steady Droppin' Dimes, return to their former college town and share their favorite places to visit and speak about their times at the helm of Ann Arbor athletic culture. 

The Brown Jug

Known for its bustling atmosphere and filling foods, Gardner,Horton, and great company ate lunch at the restaurant while discussing their time as athletes representing the Maize and Blue.  Everyone enjoyed the bevy of the Brown Jug’s varied menu, which features items named after historic U-M athletes, such as the Devin Gardner Chicken Tenders. 

Bivouac

During this State Street visit, the two athletes helped highlight the booming A2 retail scene, with Horton and Gardner presenting the perfect opportunity to showcase local entrepreneurship.  

La Casa Cigar Ann Arbor  

Cigar Lounge visit for My Ann ArborThis lounge makes for a great balance between relaxation and a tradition for celebration. La Casa Cigar features luxury cigar lounges, live music, and many other amenities for its customers. During this episode, the two guests visited La Casa to salute their storied college careers and spotlight the city’s cigar culture.  

The Fowling Warehouse

The Fowling Warehouse in Ypsilanti offers a perfect blend of entertainment and competition, mixing football and bowling, creating interactive yet competitive fun. For Horton and Gardner, the experience felt like home. Gardner, reminiscent of his days at the Big House, launched the football with ease. Meanwhile, Horton, who was no slouch from long range, making over 200 three-pointers in his college career, got the competitive juices flowing once again. Fowling prioritizes fun and entertainment, making their visit to the Fowling Warehouse an absolute success. 

Weber’s Restaurant 

The two standout athletes understand the importance of refueling after a game. After their Fowling experience, Gardner, Horton, and Webb took to Weber’s restaurant to enjoy classic American cuisine and reflect on their adventurous day. The boutique Ann Arbor restaurant offers meals from prime rib, crafted desserts, and a lengthy drink menu that provides more than 50 beverages. For these Ann Arbor sports legends, this was the perfect way to cap their return home.
