Ann Arbor keeps it fresh in Pure Michigan. From thousands of acres of public parks and nature areas to miles of trails and pathways, make the Ann Arbor area your next outdoor destination.   

Waterloo Recreation Area in Chelsea, Michigan, is the largest state park in the Lower Peninsula. Camp, bike, hike, and explore plenty of beautiful pathways and lakes. Guests can request motorized trek chairs to explore at no additional cost, designed for visitors who use wheelchairs to enjoy the park's scenic trails. Take time to visit the Eddy Discovery Center and learn about the park’s geology and natural habitats.

Mountain bikers rejoice when biking the DTE Energy Foundation Trail, a four loop, 20+ mile single-track trail known as one of the best mountain biking trail systems in lower Michigan. Purchase your required DNR passport online or upon arrival at Waterloo. 


Popular among visitors and residents alike, the Border to Border Trail is a county-wide, 10 foot wide, ADA-accessible pathway connecting cities, parks, and destinations including Chelsea, Dexter, Ann Arbor, and Ypsilanti.  Remember to take a moment and admire the surrounding nature and greenery during your calming stroll.

Ann Arbor is an art city full of larger-than-life murals, exciting museums, all-seasons events and entertainment, and immersive artful experiences. 

Buy tickets to touring concerts and movie screenings at the historic Michigan Theater and State Theatre. Annual events like the Ann Arbor Art Fair draw hundreds of thousands to downtown Ann Arbor in July for exceptional artwork by hundreds of artists. The Ann Arbor Film Festival has been named the best film festival in North America, and has provided 60 years of mind-bending experimental film. The Ann Arbor Summerfest combines a variety of entertainment and family fun into this weeks-long festival.   


Area cultural events honor heritage and history year-round. Attend the Dance for Mother Earth Powwow in March, one of the largest student-run Powwows in the country, and celebrate LGBTQ+ community and allyship at Ann Arbor Pride in August.
